ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by M.M.SUNDRESH, J.) The petitioner has given a representation to the respondents to widen the Kallanai Kalvai Karai Road from Vettikadu to Eachankottai for a distance of about 12 kilometers. As the aforesaid 1/3

representation has not been considered, the present writ petition is filed.

2. The learned Special Government Pleader has produced instructions from the Divisional Engineer, Highways Department, namely, the fourth respondent herein, which indicates that a proposal has been sent for widening the road, through the National Highway Wing under Central Road Fund Scheme, which is yet to be approved. The project of widening the road is likely to be taken up in the ensuing Financial Year, on a priority basis.

3. In view of the above, we direct the respondents to take appropriate action by considering the approval sought-for for widening the road. The need for widening is not in dispute. But the difficulty is with respect to the fund allocation. Thus, we hope and trust that the respondents would consider the said issue and undertake the said exercise, as expeditiously as possible.
