2 W.P.(MD)NO.1569 OF 2026 Prayer: Writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the third respondent to dispose the petitioner's appeal dated 08.12.2025 and cancel the patta stand in the name of the respondents 5 and 6 issued by the fourth respondent in respect of water body namely "Melamanakarai Kanmai" in patta No.1049 and 2687 in respect of land in survey No.218/2A and 218/1 situated at Melamanakarai Village, Kandilan Group, Mudukulathur Taluk, Ramanathapuram District and direct the respondents 1 to 4 to remove the encroachment made by the respondents 5 and 6 within the time stipulated by this Court.

O R D E R

Heard the learned counsel appearing for the writ petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for respondents 1 to 4.

2. Issuance of notice to the private respondents is dispensed with.

3. It appears that the petitioner is aggrieved by the grant of 2/4

3 W.P.(MD)NO.1569 OF 2026 patta in favour of the private respondents. He has therefore filed an appeal before the Revenue Divisional Officer, Paramakudi. The contention of the petitioner is that patta has been granted in respect of a water body.

4. Without going into the merits of the matter, we direct the third respondent to dispose of the petition-mentioned appeal on merits and in accordance with law within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The third respondent has to necessarily put the respondents 5 and 6 on notice before passing final order. This writ petition stands disposed of accordingly. No costs.
