O R D E R
The present writ petition has been filed seeking mandamus to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to reissue a fresh passport to the writ petitioner based upon his renewal application dated 30.07.2025.
2. According to the learned counsel for the writ petitioner, originally the passport was issued to him in the year 1993. Thereafter, he had renewed the same in the year 2003, 2011 and 2017. Due to expiry of pages, he made an application dated 30.07.2025 seeking a fresh passport. They have withheld the request of the petitioner primarily on the ground that the petitioner is holding dual passport. Hence, this writ petition. 2/5
3. According to the learned Central Government Standing Counsel for the respondents 1 and 2, another passport was issued to the petitioner by the Mumbai office on 28.07.1999 and therefore, a communication has been addressed to the third respondent to conduct an enquiry.

The learned counsel for the respondents 3 and 4 has submitted that the fourth respondent has already forwarded a report to the third respondent to the effect that they do not have any objection in renewing the passport of the petitioner. The third respondent, so far, has not forwarded the report. Hence, she prayed to direct the third respondent to forward the report of the fourth respondent to the respondents 1 and 2 for passing appropriate orders.

In view of the abovesaid facts, the third respondent is directed to forward the report of the fourth respondent to the respondents 1 and 2 within two (2) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. On receipt of the report from the third respondent, the respondents 1 and 2 are directed to proceed in accordance with law within two (2) weeks thereafter. 3/5
6. With the said observations, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
