Respondents PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a writ of certiorarified mandamus calling for the records pertaining to the NOTIFICATION FOR CERTIFICATE COURSE IN COMPUTER ON OFFICE AUTOMATION (COA) and GOVERNMENT TECHNICAL EXAMINATIONS (GTE) FEBRUARY - 2026 Dated 28.12.2025 issued by the 3rd respondent and quash the same as illegal and erroneous and consequentially, direct the respondents to issue a fresh notification permitting the enrolment of candidates for the February 2026 examinations through the old registration process, as was in practice up to the August 2025 examinations, and to reschedule the examinations on convenient dates, allowing all students across Tamil Nadu sufficient time for effective preparation.

[Order of the Court was made by DR.G.JAYACHANDRAN, J.] Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner at length.

2. The intention of the petitioner is to stall the examinations for the certificate course in Computer on Office Automation and the Government Technical Examinations scheduled to be held from 07.02.2026 onwards. The last date for the online registration and submission of applications has been fixed as 19.01.2026. Pointing out the in-between holidays, it is contended that the time provided for submitting applications is very short and therefore, the same has to be extended. That apart, it is also contended that the facilitation centres are not adequate for conducting the examinations.

Mr.P.Thilakkumar, learned Government Pleader, who takes notice for the respondents, submits that the last date for submitting applications has been extended from 19.01.2026 to 23.01.2026 and adequate facilitation centres have been provided in all the districts and therefore, the Directorate of Technical Education has made adequate arrangements for conducting the examinations and accommodating all the applicants.

4. In view of the above submission of the learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents, we are of the view that the grievance of the petitioner has been substantially taken care of by the respondents and hence, there is no necessity to entertain this public interest litigation.

5. Accordingly, this writ petition is dismissed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. [G.J., J.] [K.K.R.K., J.] 20.01.2026 NCC :
