O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the first to third respondents to take necessary action to conclude the proceedings in Na.Ka.No.59/2022/Aa6, dated 05.07.2023, on the file of the first respondent, within the time stipulated by this Court.

2. With the consent of the parties, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

3. The grievance of the petitioner is that the property in New Survey No.1184/2 (Old Survey No.472), measuring an extent of 2 Acres and 26 Cents, originally belonged to the petitioner's mother. After her demise, the petitioner and his siblings have been in possession and enjoyment of the said property. However, during the UDR updation, instead of the name of the petitioner's mother, the name of one Mariammal, W/o. Murugesan, has been entered in the revenue records.

4. Therefore, the petitioner submitted a representation to the first respondent. Pursuant to the same, the first respondent took the representation on file and initiated proceedings vide Na.Ka.No. 59/2022/Aa6, dated 05.07.2023, by directing the fourth respondent to take necessary action and report the same to the first respondent. However, till date, the petitioner's request for rectification of the mistake is pending without any progress. Hence, the petitioner has been constrained to file the present Writ Petition.

The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that the said representation was forwarded to the second respondent, who is the competent authority and that the proceedings would be concluded by the second respondent within a period of sixteen weeks.

Recording the above submission and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the second respondent to conclude the proceedings in Na.Ka.No.59/2022/Aa6 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of sixteen weeks from the date of Page No. 3 of 5

receipt of a copy of this order. The proceedings shall be concluded after conducting an enquiry. The second respondent is also directed to afford a reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and any other interested parties who may be affected by such decision before passing any order. In the event of any rival claims, the parties are at liberty to pursue their remedies before the competent Civil Court. There shall be no order as to costs.
