ORDER

This Writ Petition is filed seeking for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the Respondents to permit the petitioner to conduct the Kabadi Tournaments on 09.02.2024 (Friday) to 11.02.2024 (Sunday) at Keezhakuyilkudi Village, Madurai District, by providing Police protection based on the representation dated 12.01.2024.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner has decided to conduct Kabadi Tournament, which is scheduled to be held on 09.02.2024 (Friday) to 11.02.2024 (Sunday) at Keezhakuyilkudi Village, Madurai District. Hence, he sought permission of the police by giving a representation dated 12.01.2024. But, the respondents have not considered the said representation. Since no order was passed, the petitioner has come before this Court for the above said relief.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the Respondents, on instructions, would submit that the circular issued by the Director General of Police, Tamil Nadu/Head of State Police Force, Chennai-4, in Rc.No. 007301/General I(I)/2019, dated 09.04.2019 is in force regarding organizing the events and cultural programme. He undertakes to follow the said 2/5

circular. He also seeks payment of appropriate fee for providing police protection, as per G.O.Ms.No.139, Home (PoI.VIII) Dept. dated 04.03.2019.

In view of the submission made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, the Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the Respondent Police to grant permission to the Petitioner to conduct the Kabadi tournament from 09.02.2024 to 11.02.2024 at Keezhakuyilkudi Village, Madurai District by considering the representation of the Petitioner dated 12.01.2024 and dispose of the same based on the aforesaid circular appropriately. The Petitioner shall pay reimbursement of Guard Charges for the Police Personnel as per G.O.Ms.No. 139, Home (PoI.VIII) Dept. dated 04.03.2019.
