Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to settle interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of terminal benefits of the petitioner's husband Late A.Raghu including Provident Fund, Gratuity and Leave Salary from the date of his retirement to till the date on which the said benefits were settled to her.

ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed by the wife of the deceased employee of the respondent corporation, seeking a mandamus for payment of interest for the belated disbursement of terminal benefits.

2. According to the learned counsel appearing for the Petitioner, the Petitioner's husband has retired from service on 31.12.2022 and he passed away on 10.08.2024. The terminal benefits were released only on 31.10.2024. Therefore, the Petitioner has sent a representation on 02.12.2024, seeking payment of interest for the belated disbursement of the terminal benefits. Since the same has not been considered to date, the Petitioner is constrained to move the present Writ Petition. 2/4

3. Considering the above said facts, the Respondents are directed to pay 6% interest from the due date till the date of disbursement within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this Order.

4. With the above observations and directions, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
