ORDER

Mr.S.Deenadhayalan, learned Standing Counsel takes notice for the respondents. By consent of both the parties, this writ petition is taken up for final hearing at the admission stage itself.

2. This Writ Petition is filed seeking to remove the high tension overhead electric lines laid by the respondents across the patta lands belonging to the petitioners in survey No.388/2A and in Survey No.388/2C situated in Chandragiri Village, Ottapidaram TaluK, Thoothukudi District, by considering the representation sent by the petitioner dated 02.08.2024.

3. When the matter came up for admission, the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents submitted that the District Collector, Thoothukudi, is the competent authority under Section 17 of the Indian Telegraph Act, to take a final call in this regard. 2/4

4. In view of the same, giving liberty to the petitioners to make an application under Section 17 of the Indian Telegraph Act, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
