O R D E R
The present writ petition has been filed seeking mandamus directing the first respondent to reissue the passport based upon the petitioner's application dated 08.01.2025.
2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that he was initially issued with a passport on 16.05.2017, whose validity expires only on 15.05.2027. However, the passport went missing on 10.09.2018. Therefore, he had lodged a complaint before the third respondent police station. So far, they have not filed any report with regard to the tracing of passport.
3. When the petitioner approached the first respondent for re-issuance of passport, the first respondent has addressed a communication to the second 2/5
respondent seeking a report with regard to the antecedents of the applicant and providing clearance/objection for facilitating passport services.
4. So far, the second respondent has not sent his report to the first respondent to enable them to consider the request of the petitioner for issuance of passport.
5. In view of the aforesaid fact, the second respondent is directed to send a report pursuant to the communication of the first respondent dated 28.02.2019 and to forward the report of the third respondent to the first respondent within four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Based upon the said report, the first respondent is directed to proceed in accordance with law.
