ORDER

The petitioner/ A5 is facing trial in S.C.No.270 of 2019 pending before the learned Assistant Sessions Judge, Pattukottai. The contention of the petitioner is that in this case, no summon has been served to the witnesses and the case has been periodically adjourned without any progress. On 06.01.2020, charges were framed in this case and the case was posted periodically from 06.03.2020 to 09.06.2023 for trial and thereafter, from 11.08.2023, the case was posted for evidence without any further progress. Hence, seeks speedy disposal.

2. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that in this case, there are only 13 witnesses. The witnesses can be produced without any further delay and the trial itself can be completed within stipulated period.

3. Considering the submission made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor and the petitioner's undertaking that he cross-examine the witnesses then and there without any further delay and the petitioner would not be a reason for delay, the learned Assistant Sessions Judge, 2/5

Pattukottai, is directed to complete the trial in S.C.No.270 of 2019 and dispose of the same within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
