Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to give age relaxation for the recruitment made in the Departments under the control of the 2nd respondent within the District of Tirunelveli and Tenkasi based on the petitioner's representation, dated 23.11.2020.

Heard Mr.Ananth C.Rajesh, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mrs.J.Padmavathi Devi, learned Special Government Pleader, who takes notice for the respondents.

2.The petitioners herein seeks for a mandamus, directing the respondents to relax his age, so that he may be entitled to participate in the various recruitments under the second respondent Department.

3.The petitioner is aged about 49 years as on date. The maximum age prescribed for recruitment to the cadre of Assistants in the Government Departments is 35 years. The petitioner has not quoted any law or regulations as to how the respondents are empowered to grant such relaxation. In the absence of any such https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2

W.P.(MD) No.2045 of 2021 Rules or Regulations empowering the respondents to relax the upper age limit for candidates to apply for any recruitment, it would not be appropriate to direct them to consider the petitioner's request.

4.Accordingly, this writ petition stands dismissed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
