O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents herein to grant permission to the petitioner to resume and operate the ambulance service at the location near Aavin Milk Dairy, Sivagangai Road, K.K. Nagar, Madurai, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 06.01.2026 and to pass appropriate orders in accordance with law within a time frame that may be fixed by this Court.

2. It is the case of the petitioner that the petitioner has been running a free ambulance service. In the year 2024, the respondents undertook flyover construction and road widening works in the said area and, in furtherance thereof, evicted the petitioner and the adjacent land possessors. The petitioner fully cooperated with the authorities during the execution of the public works. However, despite the completion of the flyover and the smooth resumption of traffic, the respondents refused to renew the petitioner's licence and denied permission to resume the ambulance service. Hence, the petitioner made a representation to the 2/5

respondents on 06.01.2026 seeking permission to operate the ambulance service even after the completion of the road works. However, the same has not been considered till date. Hence, the petitioner has filed the present writ petition.

3. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents would submit that the petitioner's representation would be considered in accordance with law.

4. In view of the above, this Court, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, directs the Divisional Engineer, (Highways), Construction and Maintenance, Madurai, to pass appropriate orders on the petitioner's representation dated 06.01.2026, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 27.01.2026 Index : Yes/No Internet: Yes/No TSG 3/5
