PRAYER: Writ Petitions filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 19.12.2025 in the light of GO(Ms)No.521 dated 17.06.1998 issued by the Revenue (Ser.VII (2) Department in accordance with law within the time stipulated by this court.

ORDER
The petitioner is a resident of Kalangathan Kottai, Ilayangudi. She has applied for the post of Village Assistant in Aranmanaikarai village, which is near to Kalangathan Kottai. The petitioner has submitted a representation dated 19.12.2025 to the respondents to appoint her as Village Assistant in Aranmanaikarai village based on GO(Ms)No.521 dated 17.06.1998 issued by the Revenue (Ser.VII (2) Department, that the persons residing in the particular villages alone shall be appointed.
2.The learned Special Government Pleader, who takes notice for the respondents by referring to the amendments made to the Special Rules for the Tamil Nadu Village Assistants Service submits that Rule 7(c) of the said Rules has been amended that the person appointed to the post of Village Assistant shall belong to the Taluk to which he is appointed. Therefore, the representation of the petitioner cannot be considered.
