ORDER

Mr.K.Ramaiah, learned Standing Counsel takes notice on behalf of the respondents.

The instant writ petition has been filed by a retired employee of the respondent transport corporation, seeking a mandamus to pay the interest at 6% for the belated payment of retirement benefits.

3. According to the learned Counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, the petitioner was appointed in the transport corporation on 03.05.1997 and he had attained superannuation on 31.03.2023. The terminal benefits were disbursed belatedly to the writ petitioner only on 30.10.2024. Hence, he sent a representation on 23.12.2024, seeking interest for the belated payment. Since, there is no response from the respondents authorities, the present writ petition has been filed. 2/4

Considering the above said facts, the respondent Transport Corporation is directed to pay interest at the rate of 6% from the due date till the date of disbursement within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a receipt of a copy of this order. 5.With the above said observations, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
