This writ petition has been filed seeking a writ of mandamus directing the first respondent to disburse the petitioner's share in her father's terminal benefits and other service benefits based on the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 09.10.2024.

This Court having taken note of the nature of the dispute involved in the present writ petition, by order dated 26.03.2026, referred the petitioner and respondent 2 and 3 to the Mediation Centre attached to this Court for arriving at an amicable settlement. Pursuant to the said order, the parties appeared before the Mediation Centre and arrived at a settlement. Accordingly, they entered into a settlement agreement dated 28.04.2026 and a report was submitted by the Mediation Centre. The terms of settlement arrived at between the petitioner and
respondents 2 and 3 reads as follows:- "6. The following settlement has been arrived between the parties hereto: "A.It is agreed between the parties that the petitioner namely Pathampriya W/o.Mr.Mohandoss, D/o (Late) Muniyandi shall be entitled for compassionate appointment from 1st respondent namely Ramanathapuram Municipality. The 2nd and 3rd respondent will have no objection for the same and agreed to give No Objection to the 1st respondent.
B.It is further agreed on getting the compassionate appointment the petitioner and Chettachi (Mother)/2nd respondent shall execute a settlement deed in favour of his brother Muniyasamy the 3rd respondent and herein, in respect of property situated at K.K.Nagar Surankottai and extend of 3 cent Bearing Patta No.47. The 3rd respondent shall bear the expenses for registering the same. It is further agreed that the death benefit amount accured in the name deceased Muniyandi the F/o the petitioner and 3rd respondent and husband of 2nd respondent shall be divided equally among themselves I.e. 1/3rd share to each.
C.It is further agreed that the family pension will be received exclusively by the 2nd respondent Chettachi being the W/o deceased Muniyandi. The petitioner and the 3rd respondent shall no claim any another from their mother in respect of pension."

In the light of the settlement arrived at between the petitioner and respondents 2 &3, the learned counsel for the first respondent submitted that the claims of the petitioner and respondents 2 and 3 for release of terminal benefits, family pension and consideration for compassionate appointment can be considered by the first respondent only upon submission of proper applications by the respective parties after fulfilling all the requirements.
4. In the light of the settlement arrived at between the petitioner and respondents 2 & 3, the writ petition is disposed of in terms of the agreed settlement. Liberty is granted to the petitioner and respondents 2 and 3 to submit the necessary applications before the first respondent for release of terminal benefits, payment of family pension, and consideration for compassionate appointment in accordance with law.
5. In case, if appropriate applications are submitted by the respective parties, the first respondent shall consider the same without unnecessary delay
and as expeditiously as possible, at any rate, within a period of two months from the date of such applications, duly taking into consideration the terms of the settlement.
6.Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
