PRAYER :- To direct the 1st Additional District and Sessions Judge, Thanjavur to consider and dispose of the bail application to be filed by the petitioner on the same day of its filing on their surrender with the case in Crime No. 20 of 2026.

ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the learned I Additional District and Sessions Judge, Thanjavur to consider and dispose of the bail application to be filed by the petitioner on the same day of its filing on their surrender with the case in Crime No. 20 of 2026.

2. Considering the nature of the relief sought for, notice to the respondent Nos.4 to 7, is dispensed with.

3. The case of the prosecution is that on 17.01.2026, when the respondents 4 to 7 were returning to their village in a two wheeler, the accused persons alleged to have attacked them, abused them by their caste name and also threatened them with dire consequences. Based on these allegations, an FIR has been registered against the petitioner.

4. Learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that the first petitioner was already arrested.

5. Heard the learned counsel on either side and carefully perused the materials available on record.

6. Considering the limited scope of the relief sought for, this Court hereby direct the learned 1st Additional District and Sessions Judge, Thanjavur, to issue prior notice to the de facto complainant and thereafter to consider the bail application of the petitioners 2 to 5 on the same day of his surrender before that Court in connection with Crime No.20 of 2026 on the file of the 3rd respondent police. 3/5

7. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of. 27.01.2026 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes/ No pnn Note: Issue order copy on 28.01.2026.
