ORDER

The present petition is filed to seek for a direction to the learned Judicial Magistrate No.I, Nagercoil, to expedite the trial of the case pending on his file since 2010 in C.C.No.24 of 2010. In the said case, the petitioner faces trial along with others for the offences under Sections 419, 203, 199, 218 and 120(b) IPC.

2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is a former Police Official and due to the pendency of the case, he could not even obtain his terminal benefits.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that there are around 21 witnesses in this case and the trial is to commence on 24.04.2019 and summons to L.W.1 to L.W.3 have already been served.

4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, the learned Judicial Magistrate No.I, Nagercoil, is directed to complete the trial in C.C.No.24 of 2010 within a period of four months from 24.04.2019.

5. Accordingly, this criminal original petition is disposed of.
