: Respondents PRAYER: Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issue of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the 1/3
respondents for removal of false information mentioned in the IX Std Tamil Samacheer Text Books and college books stating that Periyar was awarded by UNESCO title as Socrates of South Asia and only the actual facts to be stated in the textbooks and consider the petitioner representation and pass orders on the representation dated 02.09.2020.

ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by M.M.SUNDRESH, J.) The petitioner has filed the present Public Interest Litigation raising an issue that a mistake is crept in the 9th standard Tamil Samacheer Textbook as well as the College Books to the effect that "Thandhai Periyar was awarded the title of Socrates of Asia by UNESCO".
2. Placing reliance on the materials filed before this Court, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that it is factually incorrect and therefore, requires to be rectified.
3. The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 3 submitted that this is an issue, which has to be considered by the committee concerned constituted for the aforesaid purpose.
4. Be that as it may, the petitioner has already made a representation seeking to rectify the alleged mistake as aforesaid. In such view of the matter, we direct the respondents 2 to 4, as the case may be, to look into the same and take appropriate measures, which would include referring to the committee and thereafter doing the needful. The needful will have to be done within twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
