This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a writ of Mandamus, directing the fourth respondent to process and reimburse the medical expenses of Rs.2,41,892/- made in Vasantham Health Center (P) Ltd., Nagercoil between 03.11.2020 to 10.11.2020.
2. The case of the petitioner is that initially he was appointed as Watchman in Vivekananda College, Agasteeswaram, Kanyakumari District in the year 1990 and thereafter, he was promoted as Herbarium Keeper. Due to severe fever, he has taken treatment in Vasantham Health Centre, Nagercoil from 03.11.2020 to 10.11.2020 and he has spent a sum of Rs. 2,41,892/-. Hence, he has made a representation to the third respondent seeking medical reimbursement. But there was no response. Thereafter, the Joint Secretary to Government has sent a communication to the fifth respondent to expedite the process of reimbursement. But till date no action has been taken. Hence, the present writ petition has been filed.
3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that this Court may issue a direction to the fifth respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 12.11.2022 and pass appropriate orders, within a reasonable time as fixed by this Court.
4. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner, the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 4 and the learned Standing counsel appearing for the fifth respondent.
5. Considering the limited request made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, this Court, without going into the merits of the matter, directs the fifth respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 12.11.2022 and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
