PRAYER : Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to grant permission and protection for conducting the event of "Vadamaadu" (Jallikattu) scheduled to be held on 02.02.2023 at Nagarampatty Village, Sivagangai District by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 06.01.2023. O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by D.KRISHNAKUMAR, J.] This Writ Petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to grant permission and protection for conducting the event of "Vadamaadu" (Jallikattu) scheduled to be held on 02.02.2023 at Nagarampatty Village, Sivagangai District by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 06.01.2023.

2. Heard Mr.K.Srinivasaragavan, learned counsel for the petitioner, Mr.P.Thilak Kumar, learned Government Pleader, who takes notice for the respondents 1 and 2 and Mr.S.Ravi, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, who takes notice for the respondents 3 and 4.

3. By consent, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner made a representation on 06.01.2023 to the respondents, seeking permission to conduct the event of "Vadamaadu" (Jallikattu) scheduled to be held on 02.02.2023 at Nagarampatty Village, Sivagangai District. However, the respondents neither rejected nor considered the same. Hence, the petitioner has filed this Writ Petition.

5. The learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 and 2 by relying upon the notifications issued by the Animal Husbandry, Dairying and

Fisheries Department, dated 21.01.2027, submitted that the place in question is not come under the notified area and therefore, the petitioner may approach the Government through the District Collector, for conducting Jallikattu.

6. In view of the aforesaid submission, we are not inclined to entertain this Writ Petition. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is dismissed, with liberty to the petitioner to approach Government through the District Collector, Sivagangai for getting necessary permission for conducting 'Jallikattu' at Nagarampatty Village, Sivagangai District. No costs.
