ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition is filed to issue a Direction directing the respondent nos. 1 and 2 to provide adequate Police Protection to the life and limb of the petitioner and his family by considering his complaint dated 07.01.2026.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is a senior citizen as well as a whistleblower who had taken intense steps to close the charcoal factory polluting the area in the District of Thanjavur which was run by the third respondent. By the order of the Hon'ble Division Bench of this Court, the said industry was already closed. Thereafter, in the interregnum with the intention to reopen the said factory, the third respondent is continuously threatening the petitioner. Therefore, the petitioner has given a representation to the second respondent through post. However, the second respondent police has not the taken any steps. Hence this petition.

3. Learned Government Advocate submitted that a representation has been given by the petitioner through post to the first respondent and the same has not been so far forwarded to the second respondent. If at all 2/4

the petitioner has any imminent threat or danger to his life or his limb, it is very well open to the petitioner to approach the second respondent at any point of time with supporting materials and the second respondent would look into it and take necessary steps to address the petitioners plight.

4. Heard either sides and carefully perused the materials available on the record.

5. In view of the submissions, if at all the petitoner is facing imminent threat to his life and limb, he can give a complaint in person to the second respondent and the second respondent on receipt of the same shall take necessary steps to ensure the safety of the petitioner.

6. With the above said direction, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
