PRAYER :- Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to take appropriate action for extend the proposed Metro Rail Project in Madurai from Othakadai to Melur for the welfare of all sector of people by considering the petitioners representation dated on 07.09.2023.

(Order of the Court was made by M.S.RAMESH,J.) By consent of both sides, the writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.
2. The petitioner has filed this writ petition for a mandamus to direct the respondents to take appropriate action for extending the proposed Metro Rail Project in Madurai from Othakadai to Melur for the welfare of all sector of people by considering the petitioner's representation dated on 07.09.2023.

3. The request of the writ petitioner in his representation seeking for extension of the proposed metro rail project in Madurai from Othakadai to Melur is purely a policy decision to be taken by the Government and this Court in exercise of its powers under Article 226 of the Constitution of India will not venture to direct the Government to consider such a request. However, if the Government is of the view that the petitioner's request can be considered, it is open to the Government to consider the petitioner's representation dated 07.09.2023 on its own merits and pass orders in accordance with law as expeditiously as possible.
4. With the above direction, the Writ Petition stands closed. No costs.
