ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents 3 to 4 to grant permission on 15.02.2026 to conduct Annathanam, Villupattu and South Indian Classical Concert of Nadaswaram Melam on the eve of Masi Festival/Mahasivarathiri Festival of the Arulmigu Sri Vilvanathar Sametha Nithiyakalyani Ambigai Temple, Melakadaladi Village, Kadaladi Taluk, Ramanathapuram District, based on the petitioner's representation dated 03.01.2026.

2.The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) submitted that a peace committee meeting had already been conducted on 07.02.2024, and the Tahsildar had refused to grant permission to conduct Annathanam, Nadakam, and the Rekla race.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner has not insisted to conduct Nadakam and Rekla race. But, he seeks permission to conduct Annathanam, Villupattu and South Indian Classical Concert of Nadaswaram Melam.

4.Considering the facts of the case, this Court is inclined to pass the following order:

4.1.The Tahsildar shall conduct peace committee meeting. The petitioner and the rival groups shall be heard, after issuing notice and thereafter, appropriate orders shall be passed. Thereafter, the parties shall adhere to the outcome of the same. It is made clear that nobody shall be entitled to claim first honour.

5.With the above observations, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
