Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue Writ of Mandamus directing the second respondent to give permission and police protection for a cultural event 'Adal Paadal' scheduled to be held on 23.02.2021 in connection with Arulmigu Malainachiyamman Temple festival at Piranpatty, Singampunari Taluk and Sivagangai District.

ORDER

The petitioner has filed this petition seeking permission to conduct 'Adal Paadal' on 23.02.2021 at Piranpatty, Singampunari Taluk and Sivagangai District.

2.Mr.R.Saravana Kumar, learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents, on instructions, would contend that the petitioner's representation dated 01.02.2021 was rejected by the first respondent citing the present Covid-19 pandemic situation. However, he would submit that since certain relaxations are made by the Government in the subsequent Government Orders, they are ready to consider the fresh representation, if submitted by the petitioner.

3. Considering the said submissions made by the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), the petitioner, if so advised, can file a fresh petition before the District Collector, Sivagangai District and on receipt of the same, the District Collector shall consider and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of the representation of the petitioner.

4. With the above observation, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
