Heard the learned counsel on either side.

2.The petitioner seeks renewal of his passport. Since his application was not being processed, this writ petition came to be filed. 3.When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the second respondent submitted that two cases are still pending against the petitioner and they have been charge sheeted but cognizance is yet to be taken. 4.It is seen that the said cases came to be registered because the petitioner took part in a public agitation. This need not operate as an impediment for renewal of the petitioner's passport. The Regional Passport Officer, Tiruchirapalli, is directed to renew the petitioner's passport subject to fulfilment of the other usual formalities. 5.This Writ Petition is allowed. No costs.
