4.N.Palraj 5.N.Durairaj 6.K.Sureshkumar 7.K.Mahalingam 8.S.Hari : Respondents PRAYER: Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents 1 to 3 to refrain from granting permission to any organisers to conduct Jallikattu at the Village Manthai (community market place), Thiruverambur, Tiruchirappalli, as requested by the respondents 4 to 8 as the conduct of Jallikattu involves removal of public roads laid with paver blocks and involves risk to the person and properties of the residential places and they may be permitted to conduct Jallikattu at the vacant land areas situated outside the residential area of the Koothaiappar Village. ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by M.M.SUNDRESH, J.) Though the petitioner sought for a larger prayer, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the grievance is with respect to the conduct of the programme inside Manthai (market), which requires removal of structures attached to it. In such view of the matter, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the pending representation made by the petitioner dated 29.01.2021 may be directed to be considered by the respondent No.1.

2. Considering the said submissions, we call upon the respondent No.1 to take a decision either by himself or through his subordinates with respect to the place of conduct of Jallikattu. If a decision is made to give permission to conduct the same, the representation of the petitioner will have to be disposed of within two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

3. The writ petition stands disposed of accordingly. No costs.
