O R D E R

The petitioner is an accused in C.C.No.28 of 2022, which is filed under NDPS Act. Considering the quantity of the contraband involved, the petitioner has been denied bail and he is languishing in the jail for the past 2 1/2 years. Now, the petitioner has filed this petition seeking a direction to the trial Court to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible. 2.The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) submits that the trial in C.C.No.28 of 2022, pending on the file of the learned Additional District & Sessions Judge, Special Court for EC Act Cases, Pudukkottai, has already been commenced. Till now, two witnesses have been examined. Eight more witnesses have to be examined.

3.The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) undertakes that the remaining witnesses would be produced before the trial Court within a period of one month.

4.This Court considered the rival submissions made. 5.The petitioner was denied bail and therefore, the trial Court has to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible. Since two witnesses have been examined, the respondent police is directed to produce the remaining witnesses within one month before the trial Court, from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The trial Court shall also endeavour to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of three months, from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.With the above directions, this criminal original petition is disposed of.
