O R D E R
(Order of the Court was delivered by G.R.SWAMINATHAN, J.) Heard both sides.
2. The petitioner (James) is undergoing imprisonment at Central Prison, Madurai. He has already spent one year in prison. He seeks grant of ordinary leave.
3. The petitioner is entitled to 21 days ordinary leave. We direct the second respondent to grant ordinary leave for 21 days without escort to the petitioner. This writ petition stands allowed in the following terms:- (a)The convict prisoner, James, now detained in the Central Prison, Madurai, is granted ordinary leave without escort for twenty one (21) days from 05.02.2025 to 25.02.2025.
(b) The convict prisoner shall be released from 2/5
3 W.P.(MD)NO.2951 OF 2025 the prison at 5.00 pm., on 04.02.2025 and he shall return to the prison at 10.00 am., on 26.02.2025. (c) During the said leave period, he shall report before the Inspector of Police, Valavoor police station, Tirunelveli District daily at 7.00 p.m., from 05.02.2025 onwards, without fail.
(d) During the leave period, the convict prisoner shall abide by all the conditions prescribed in the Jail Manual.
7.With the above direction, the Writ Petition stands allowed. No costs.
