O R D E R

The writ petition is filed for a writ of mandamus directing the fourth respondent to issue patta in favour of the petitioner in respect of the land in Survey Nos.518 and 521/24 to an extent of 2 acre 13 cents and 24 cents situated at Sillathur Village, Orathanadu Taluk, Thanjavur District by considering the petitioner's representation dated 31.12.2024.

2. With consent of both parties, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

3. The petitioner's brother namely one Ariyappa Devar was assigned lands in Survey Nos.518 and 521/24 to an extent of 2 acre 13 cents and 24 cents. After the demise of the petitioner's brother, his wife Periyamathi executed a registered gift settlement deed in favour of the petitioner with respect to the subject property on 05.12.1975. Ever since the settlement, the petitioner and his children were in peaceful possession and enjoyment of the lands without any let or hindrance. The petitioner approached the fourth respondent for issuance of patta in his favour in respect of the subject property. As no action was taken by the fourth respondent, the petitioner submitted a representation on 31.12.2024 to the respondents to take appropriate action and issue patta in his favour for the subject properties. Even thereafter, no action was taken. Therefore, the 2/5

petitioner filed the above writ petition for the aforesaid relief.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that though larger relief is sought for in this writ petition, it would suffice if a direction is issued to the third respondent to consider and pass orders on the petitioner's representation dated 31.12.2024 within a stipulated time.

Considering the limited prayer of the learned counsel for the petitioner, a direction is issued to the third respondent to consider and pass orders on the petitioner's representation dated 31.12.2024, on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
