Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue Writ of Mandamus directing the Respondents to grant permission and protection to conduct the Adal Padal programme on 24.02.2021 in connection with Maha Kumbhabhishekam Festival of Arulmighu Sri Kaliamman Thirukovil, Thulasipatti, Vilathikulam taluk, Thoothukkudi District.

ORDER

By consent, this Writ Petition is taken up for final hearing at the admission stage itself.

2. Mr.R.Saravana Kumar, learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) accepts notice for the respondents.

3. Mr.R.Karthic Rajan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is a member of the festival committee of Arulmighu Sri Kaliamman Thirukovil, Thulasipatti, Vilathikulam taluk, Thoothukkudi District and that cultural events are scheduled to be conducted on 24.02.2021. His further contention is that he has submitted a representation dated 24.01.2021 to the second respondent seeking permission to conduct the said programme and till date, no action has been taken by the respondents.

In the circumstances, without going into the merits of the claim made by the petitioner, this Court directs the second respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, and based on merits https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2

W.P.(MD)No.3014 of 2021 within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order/uploading of the order.

5. With the above observation, this petition is disposed of. No costs.
