ORDER
The prayer in the Writ Petition reads as follows:- "To issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to furnish written information to the petitioner about the status of the cheque bearing No.709084 for a sum of Rs.10,00,000/- which was presented on 28.12.2021, by the petitioner before the respondent 1/4
Bank."
2.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, the learned Standing Counsel for the respondent and carefully perused the entire materials available on record.
3.The plight of the petitioner is that they presented a cheque bearing No.709084 for an amount Rs.10,00,000/- to the respondent Bank. However, the same was not further processed for payment. The said cheque was issued in favour of the petitioner by one Selvam towards disbursement of his liability of the said amount, which he had borrowed from the petitioner. Despite the presentation of the cheque, the cheque was not honoured. There was no whisper from the respondent Bank. The petitioner filed an application before the Right to Information Act on 31.12.2021, requesting the respondent Bank to furnish the details as to the cheque presented for collection. However, the same was not responded. Hence, on 06.01.
2022, the petitioner made a representation to the respondent Bank, requesting him to furnish details as to the status of cheque bearing No.709084, which was presented by the petitioner for collection. However, the same was not considered. Hence, the Writ Petition came to be filed. 4.
Information Act preferred by the petitioner was received by the Bank as early as on 31.12.2021, which was duly responded with appropriate details to the petitioner on 11.01.2022 itself.
5.For which, the learned counsel for the petitioner responded that so far they have not received any reply.
6.In view of same, this Court hereby direct the respondent Bank to furnish the written information to the petitioner as to the status of the cheque bearing No.709084, presented on 28.12.2021 within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order. 7.Hence, the Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
