O R D E R
The petitioner has participated in the selection process for the post of Police Constable Grade II, conducted by the Tamilnadu Uniformed Service Recruitment Board, Chennai on 09.11.2025. He has cleared the written examination, by scoring 63 marks out of 70 marks and therefore he was allowed to participate in the physical measurement and Endurance test conducted by USRB on 22.11.2025, however, he has not been selected that he was not having the required chest measurement. Therefore, this petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking a writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to conduct re-measurement, enabling the petitioner to participate in further recruitment process, by considering his representation dated 26.01.2026.

2.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that this petitioner has cleared written examination by securing 63 marks out of 70 marks. He is having all other required qualifications to be appointed as Police Constable Grade II. However, by taking the chest measurement wrongly, the respondents have rejected the candidature of the petitioner. 3.Mr.C.Venkatesh Kumar, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice for the respondents and submits that the entire selection process has been video graphed. This petitioner has not fulfilled the required chest measurement as per the notification and he has also proposed for an appeal. Therefore, the chest measurement has been taken once again by the Appellate Committee, headed by Inspector General of Police on the same day and they found that this petitioner was not having the required chest expansion as per the Notification. Therefore, his candidature has been rightly rejected by the Appellate Committee. A copy of the 3/7
disqualification dated 22.01.2026 has been served on the petitioner on the same day.
4.This Court considered the rival submissions made and also perused the materials placed on record.
5.The candidature of this petitioner for the post of Police Constable Grade II has been rejected by the Tamilnadu Uniformed Service Recruitment Board, on the ground that this petitioner was not having the required chest measurement at the time of physical endurance test. Aggrieved over the disqualification, the petitioner has proposed for an appeal and the chest measurement has been taken once again by the Appellate Committee on the same day itself. The Appellate Committee also found that this petitioner was not having the chest measurement as per the conditions stipulated in the notification dated, 21.08.2025.

6.In view of the above, this writ petition is dismissed. The petitioner has to work out his remedy by challenging the disqualification order dated 22.01.2026, in the manner known to law. No costs.
