PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of a writ of certiorarified mandamus, to call for the records pertaining to the impugned order passed by the 1st respondent vide Na.Ka.No.C2/7712/2016, dated 18.07.2024, and quash the same and consequently direct the 1st respondent to renew the license of the sporting rifle vide License No.6/1/M.N.T.II.

ORDER

Petitioner seeks to quash the proceedings, whereby the licensing authority/District Collector has refused to grant arms licence to the writ petitioner.

2. In terms of Section 18 of the Arms Act,1959, an appeal is maintainable from such an order. Consequently, I am not inclined to entertain the Writ Petition.

3. Writ Petition is, therefore, dismissed. Liberty is granted to the petitioner to file an appeal before the State Government within a period of 30 days from today. In case appeal is filed within the said period, the Government shall entertain the appeal, without insisting upon an application to condone the delay. The delay would be deemed to have been condoned. No costs. Consequently, the connected W.M.P.(MD) Nos.2240 and 2241 of 2025 are closed.
