The State represented by the Inspector of Police, Devakottai Town Police Station, Sivagangai District for willfully disobeying the order passed by this Court in Crl.O.P.(MD)No.2311 of 2019 dated 14.02.2019. Prayer in CRL OP(MD). 2311/ 2019 :

Criminal Original Petition is filed under Section 482 of Criminal Procedure Code, praying this Hon'ble Court to direct the Respondent Police to expedite the investigation in Crime No.313 of 2016 dated 22/12/2016 and the file the final report within the time frame as may be fixed by this Court.

O R D E R

By order dated 14.02.2019 in Crl.O.P.(MD)No.2311 of 2019, the respondent was directed to file a final report. Alleging that this direction has not been complied with, this Contempt Petition came to be filed.

2.When the matter was taken up for disposal, the learned Government Advocate submitted that final report was filed on 02.03.2020. The respondent herein had assumed charges as Inspector of Police, Devakottai Police Station on 17.09.2019. But the final report has been filed only on 02.03.2020. It appears that the respondents will be reminded of the directions only when the Contempt Petition is filed. It is a very sorry state of affairs. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2

Cont.P.(MD)No.246 of 2020 Cautioning the respondent to be careful in future, I do not want to make any further remarks beyond this.

3.The Government Advocate states that the learned Magistrate is likely to assume office on 20.03.2020.

4.Recording the said developments, this Contempt Petition stands closed.
