O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent to conduct an enquiry and dispose of the petitioner's revision petition dated 26.02.2025, within a time frame stipulated by this Court.

2. With the consent of the parties, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself, dispensing with the notice to the fourth respondent, as no adverse orders are proposed to be passed against him.

The grievance of the petitioner is that he is the owner of the property comprised in Survey No. 1013/1, measuring an extent of 1.43 acres out of the total extent of 2.87 acres, which was settled in his favour by his mother on 16.03.2018. The said property had originally been settled by the petitioner's great-grandmother, Iruli, in favour of the petitioner's mother on 29.08.1988. The names of the petitioner and his mother were included in the joint patta. The remaining extent of land in Survey No. 1013/1 is in the possession of the other legal heirs of the petitioner's great-grandmother.

4. In the above circumstances, the fourth respondent filed an appeal before the second respondent seeking cancellation of the joint pattas. The second respondent conducted only a cursory enquiry and cancelled all the pattas relating to the property in Survey No. 1013/1 and directed the third respondent to restore the patta that stood in the name of the petitioner's great-grandmother.

5. Therefore, the petitioner filed a revision petition dated 26.02.2025 before the first respondent. Since the first respondent has neither conducted an enquiry nor disposed of the said revision petition, the petitioner has been constrained to file the present Writ Petition.

6. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the first to third respondents, on instructions, would submit that the petitioner's revision petition would be disposed of by the first respondent within a period of twelve weeks.

7. Recording the above submissions and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the first respondent to consider the petitioner's revision Page No. 3 of 5

petition dated 26.02.2025 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The revision shall be disposed of after conducting an enquiry. The first respondent shall afford a reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, the fourth respondent and all other interested parties before passing orders. In the event of any rival claims, the parties are at liberty to work out their remedies before the competent Civil Court. No costs.
