O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed for a direction to the respondent to pay interest to the petitioner for the delayed payment of the pensionery benefits as per the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Pension Rules 1978, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 20.10.2021.

2. The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner has joined as a Permanent Teacher on 27.12.1989 in the respondent University and he attained the age of superannuation in the post of Associate Professor, Centre for Differently Abled Persons on 31.03.2018 and continued his service till the end of the academic year, i.e., on 30.06.2018 on re-employment basis. However, the terminal benefits were settled, but the interest on delayed payment of gratuity were not settled. Hence, the petitioner has submitted a representation on 20.10.2021. But, till date, no order was passed. Therefore, the petitioner has filed the present Writ Petition with the aforesaid prayer.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that it would suffice, if the respondent is directed to consider the

representation of the petitioner, dated 20.10.2021, on merits and in accordance with law, within a specified period.

4. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and perused the materials placed before this Court.

5. Considering the limited request made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, this Court, without going into the merits of the matter, directs the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation, dated 20.10.2021 and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
