PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents herein to prevent the mining of sand at Government Poramboke Lands in Survey Nos.257 and 258 situated at Sithargal Natham Village (Near Vaigai River Bed), Nilakottai Taluk, Dindigul District and to take appropriate action against the persons indulged in illegal mining of sand on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 27.01.2020 within the time that may be stipulated by this Court.

O R D E R
[Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.] The writ on hand has been instituted to direct the respondents to prevent the mining of sand at Government Poramboke Lands in Survey Nos.257 and 258 situated at Sithargal Natham Village (Near Vaigai River Bed), Nilakottai Taluk, Dindigul District.
2. The learned Government Pleader appearing on behalf of respondents 1, 3, 5 and 6 would submit that there is no river sand 2/5
mining activity in the subject lands and the Government has already stopped the mining activity.
3. In view of the submission made by the learned Government Pleader, no further adjudication is required in this writ petition. However, it is made clear that if any illegal sand mining is identified, the authorities concerned are bound to initiate all appropriate actions including criminal prosecution against the offenders.
4. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
