ORDER

Mr.S.Kameswaran, learned Government Advocate takes notice on behalf of the respondents.

2. Considering the limited relief sought for in the writ petition, with the consent of the parties, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal.

3. The petitioner seeks issuance of a writ of mandamus for issuance of patta in his name in respect of S.No.396/A1A1 in Kanavoipatti Village, Nelakkottai Taluk, Dindigul District.

4. The petitioner is an Ex-service men who made an application for issuance of patta on 25.10.2024. Apart from his own application, the petitioner has also enclosed a recommendation letter from his higher officials in the Indian Army to substantiate his name of being an Ex-service men.

5. Be that as it may, the request for issuance of patta is only at the discretion of the authorities subject to prevailing rules. Therefore, the petitioner is directed to furnish all the documents relating to issuance of patta before the respondents including the communication of the Tahsildar himself issued in November 2022. After verifying the same, only thereafter the respondents shall consider the application of the petitioner dated 25.10.2024 and issue patta in the name of the petitioner. The said exercise shall be completed within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. The writ petition stands disposed of with the above observations and directions. No costs.
