The present writ petition has been filed seeking a writ of mandamus directing the first respondent to consider the petitioner's application for passport dated 12.12.2025 and representation dated 23.01.2026.
2. The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the second respondent brought to the notice of this Court that the petitioner has been implicated in a criminal case in Crime No. 213 of 2024 on the file of the second respondent police, which has culminated in the filing of a charge sheet before the Juvenile Justice Board, Ramanathapuram, on 25.07.2024. According to the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), the charge sheet has not yet been taken on file.

In view of the fact that cognizance has not been taken so far, this Court is of the considered opinion that there is no legal impediment for the first respondent to consider the petitioner's request for issuance of passport. Accordingly, the first respondent is directed to consider the request of the petitioner and pass appropriate orders within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
4. With the above direction, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
