PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus to call for the records from the office of the 2nd respondent and quash the impugned cancellation dated 18.10.2025 and consequently direct the 2nd respondent to transfer the electricity connection in E.B.No.06-172-003-94 in the name of Katthalur Idol Sri Angalamman Temple based on petitioner's application dated 24-09-2025. ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed seeking to quash the order passed by the second respondent herein wherein the request of the petitioner for transferring the electricity service connection in the name of a Temple has been rejected on the ground of non-payment of application charges.

2. According to the learned Counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, the service connection was standing in the name of Karuppiah, who was the Poojari of the Temple and he had passed away. In such circumstances, the Temple would to like transfer the service connection in the name of the Temple itself in order to avoid any problem in future.

3. In case, if there is no objection from the legal heir of the said deceased Poojari, the respondents are directed to effect transfer of the electricity service connection in the name of the Katthalur Idol Sri Angalamman Temple based upon the petitioner's application dated 24.09.2025 on payment of necessary charges.

4. With the above said observations, this writ petition stands allowed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is also closed. 05.02.2026 NCC : Yes/No Index : Yes/No Internet: Yes/No 2/4
