ORDER
This Criminal Original Petition has been filed by the petitioner to expedite the trial in S.C.No.2 of 2024 on the file of the Special Court for trial of cases under SC/ST (PoA) Act, Thoothukudi, Thoothukudi District.
2. According to the petitioner, the petitioner is the third accused in the said main case and the alleged date of occurrence is 03.08.2022 and the case has been pending from 2022 and no trial has been commenced so far. Therefore, the petitioner seeks direction of this Court to speedy disposal of the case.
3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the official respondents would submit that the date of alleged occurrence is 03.08.2022, thereafter, they registered FIR in Crime No.462 of 2022, dated 04.08.2022 and thereafter, they filed charge sheet. The case has been taken on file by the Trial Court in S.C.No.2 of 2024 and now the case is posted for opening the 2/5
prosecution. He further submits that they will produce the witnesses without any delay and cooperate for speedy disposal of the case.
4. Considering the limited scope of the prayer sought for in this petition and the case is also pending from the year 2022 and numbered as S.C.No.2 of 2024 and now posted for opening the prosecution, this Court directs the Trial Court to expedite the trial proceedings and dispose the case as early as possible without giving any long adjournment.
5. With the above said directions, this Criminal Original Petition stands disposed of.
