PRAYER:- Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents 1 to 4 to conduct the peace committee meeting and consequently ensure peaceful celebration of the Mahasivarathiri Festival including the petitioner community vakayara participation as per the customary rites followed by their ancestors at Arulmighu Elanthakarai Ayyanar Temple and Vinayagar Temple, located in front of the Common Ground/Chavadi of the Kavattayanpatti Village in Chennakarampatti Panchayat, Melur Taluk, Madurai District on 21.02.2020, 22.02.2020 and 23.02.2020 by giving necessary police protection. ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the respondents 1 to 4 to conduct the peace committee meeting and consequently ensure peaceful celebration of the Mahasivarathiri Festival including the petitioner community vakayara participation as per the customary rites followed by their ancestors at Arulmighu Elanthakarai Ayyanar Temple and Vinayagar Temple, located in front of the Common Ground/Chavadi of the Kavattayanpatti Village in Chennakarampatti Panchayat, Melur Taluk, Madurai District on 21.02.2020, 22.02.2020 and 23.02.2020 by giving necessary police protection.

2.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondents 1 to 7.

3.Today when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondents 1 to 7 submits that a peace committee meeting was conducted this morning i.e., 20.02.2020 and the parties have arrived at consensus and that the minutes of the peace committee meeting has also been recorded where it has been decided that the petitioner's group will celebrate the festival along with the respondents 8 to 10 on 21.02.2020 and the respondents 11 to 15 will celebrate on 22.02.2020. Since the issue had already been decided by conducting the peace committee meeting, the prayer sought for in this petition has become infructuous.

4.Recording the same, the writ petition stands closed as infructuous. No costs.
