This writ petition has been filed seeking permission to conduct the "2nd day temple festival" scheduled on 22.01.2018 and to provide police protection on the same to the Arulmigu Sri Ramalingam Swamy Udanurai Sri Sivagami Ammal, Sri Nambi Singa Perumal Thirukovil, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 24.11.2017.

2.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

The villagers are conducting the temple festival for the past 400 years and this year, they have decided to conduct the temple festival from 22.01.2018. Hence, he seeks police protection for the same.

4.Considering the said submissions, the second respondent/Inspector of Police, Panagudi Police Station, Tirunelveli District is directed to consider the representation given by the petitioner dated 24.11.2017 and pass appropriate orders, taking into consideration of the ground reality and sentiments of the local people and customary practice, on or before 11.01.2018.

5. With the above observation, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
