PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the fourth respondent herein to grant permission and provide police protection to the Temple Arulmigu Sonaiah Kovil at Kaajimar Street and Glasskara Street, Town hall road, Madurai City on 18.02.2023 by considering the petitioner's representation dated 04.02.2023. O R D E R

The writ petitioner filed this Writ Petition seeking for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the fourth respondent to grant permission and provide police protection to the Temple Arulmigu Sonaiah Kovil at Kaajimar Street and Glasskara Street, Town hall road, Madurai City on 18.02.2023 by considering the petitioner's representation dated 04.02.2023.

2. Mr.J.K.Jeya Selan, learned Government Advocate (Civil Side) takes notice for the respondents 1 to 3, Mr.E.Antony Sahaya Prabahar, 2/6

learned Additional Public Prosecutor takes notice for the fourth respondent and Mr.M.Karthikeya Venkatachalapathy, learned counsel takes notice for the respondents 5 and 6. By consent, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

3. When the matter is taken up for hearing today, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the fourth respondent would submit that last year, since there existed disputes between the parties, the matter was referred to peace committee meeting and in the meeting, no decision was taken and hence, the programme was not conducted.

4. At this juncture, the learned counsel appearing for the writ petitioner as well as the learned counsel appearing for the private respondents would submit that the first respondent may be directed to go through the aspects and pass orders.

5. Considering the submissions made by the learned counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, the learned Government Advocate (Civil Side), the learned Additional Public Prosecutor and the learned counsel appearing for the private respondents, the first respondent is 3/6

directed to conduct a peace committee meeting in this regard, after issuing notice to the concerned parties and consider the claims of the parties and pass orders within a period of two days from today (13.02.2023).

6. With the above direction, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
