Heard the learned counsel on either side.

2.The petitioner is a 71 years old lady. Her husband was working as BDO (Block Development Officer for Schedule Tribe) in Salem. He passed away on 09.09.1997. That was two years before his actual age of superannuation. The petitioner's daughter submitted a representation on 09.01.1998, praying for grant of compassionate appointment. The same was not considered. The petitioner's daughter has been lodging one representation after another. Since no action was taken, the petitioner is constrained to file this Writ Petition.

3.This Court is unable to accept the submission of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner. It is true that the application seeking compassionate appointment was submitted within https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

time. The learned counsel is also right in his submission that the daughter cannot be disqualified on the ground that she got married. The impediment in the grant of relief to the petitioner is sheer lapse of time. Admittedly, the petitioner's husband passed away in 1997. Twenty one years have elapsed. Therefore, at this point of time it would not be proper to give a direction to the respondents to consider the case of the petitioner's daughter for appointment on compassionate grounds. There is no merit in the Writ Petition.
