ORDER

This is a petition seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against the Respondent for violation of the order, dated 07.08.2024 passed by this Court in W.P.(MD)No.20547 of 2021.

2. Heard Mr.V.Palanichamy, learned counsel for the Petitioner and Mr.R.Suresh Kumark, learned Additional Government Pleader for the Respondents.

In compliance with the order dated 07.08.2024 passed by this Court in W.P.(MD)No.20547 of 2021, wherein a direction was given to "the 1st Respondent to pass final orders on the Petitioner's representation dated 25.09.2021 seeking for his promotion to the post of Deputy Commercial Taxes Officer, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order", the respondent has complied with the order dated 07.08.2024 passed by this Court through the order dated 24.02.2025.

4. Mr.R.Suresh Kumar, the learned Additional Government Pleader, produced an order dated 24.02.2025, passed by the Respondent/the Commissioner, Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, Ezhilagam, Chepauk, 2/5

Chennai - 600 005, before this Court and submits that the respondent has made full compliance with the order passed by this Court on 07.08.2024 in W.P.(MD)No.20547 of 2021. A copy of the order has also been taken on record. Therefore, he prays that the Respondent be discharged from the contempt proceedings.

The learned counsel for the Petitioner submits that he has received a copy of the order dated 24.02.2025, wherein the Respondent has decided the Petitioner's representation by passing a detailed order, albeit rejecting his claim. He further submits that if the Petitioner is aggrieved by the said order, he may challenge it before the competent Court. The learned counsel states that he has no objection to the Respondent being discharged from the contempt proceedings.

In view of the submissions made by the learned counsel for the Petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader for the Respondent and upon perusal of the order dated 24.02.2025 passed by the Respondent in compliance with the order dated 07.08.2024 in W.P.(MD)No.20547 of 2021, this Court deems it appropriate that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the contempt proceedings pending. Accordingly, the Respondent is discharged from the contempt proceedings.

7. In view of the above, the Contempt Petition is disposed of. The file shall be consigned to record. No costs.
