Respondents PRAYER:Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to grant the compensation for the failure of the petitioner's crops in Agarapettai Village of Budalur Taluk of Thanjavur District, by way of crops insurance for the year cultivating year 2016-2017 i.e. Paddy Crops, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 12.10.2017, within the period as stipulated by this Court.

ORDER

According to the petitioner, he is a farmer, having agricultural lands in Agarapettai Village, Budalur Taluk, Thanjavur District, and insured his crops under the crops insurance scheme. Due to the drought, his crops were damaged in the year 2016-2017. In the above circumstances, the petitioner made a representation dated 12.10.2017 to the District Collector first respondent to recommend for compensation under the crops insurance scheme. But the same was not considered, hence, the present writ petition has been filed.

2.Considering the fact that the petitioner's representation is pending with the first respondent, the first respondent is directed to consider the same, and pass suitable orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

3.This writ petition is disposed of, with the above direction. No costs.
