ORDER

The petitioners have filed the instant writ petition for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the third respondent to pay compensation to the petitioners in respect of the lands acquired in S.No.347/1 at Inungur Village, Kulithalai Taluk, Karur District.

2.The grievance of the petitioners is that though the petitioners' lands have been acquired for the Cauvery-Vaigai-Gundaru Joint Canal Scheme, the petitioners have not been paid any compensation. The petitioners have made a representation to the respondents on 15.10.2024 and thereafter, the third 2/5

respondent has called upon the fourth respondent/Special Tahsildar to conduct an enquiry and submit a report. It is the grievance of the petitioners that no action has been taken in pursuance of the said direction issued by the third respondent and having lost their agricultural lands, the petitioners seek adequate compensation to be paid in respect of the acquired lands. 3.Considering the limited scope of the relief sought for in the writ petition, it would be suffice to issue a direction to the third respondent to pass orders on the petitioners' application dated 15.10.2024 on its own merits and in accordance with law and it is made clear that the entitlement of the petitioners shall be subject to the decision of the third respondent, who shall go into the entitlement of the petitioners for compensation under the prevailing laws, rules and regulations. The said application shall be decided within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4.With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. 13.02.2025 sji 3/5
