********** [Order of the Court was made by M.SATHYANARAYANAN,J.] Mr.A.K.Baskarapandian, learned Special Government Pleader appears on behalf of respondents 1 to 3.
2.The petitioner being a resident of Melamattaiyan village, Katchirayiruppu Post, Vadipatti Taluk, Madurai District, came forward to file this writ petition styled as a "Public Interest Litigation" stating among other things that whenever attempts were made to celebrate festival relating to Arulmigu Karuppasamy Temple, it is being disputed by a group of men including the respondents 4 to 6 and they are making fervent efforts to prevent the people from celebrating the "Masi Pongal Festival" in the said temple and hence came forward to file this writ petition.
3.When the matter was listed on 19.02.2018, the learned Special Government Pleader, appearing for respondents 1 to 3 on instructions submitted that peace committee meeting was convened to find out an amicable solution, so that the said festival can be conducted. However, no favourable solution was arrived at and as such the "Masi Pongal Festival" was not celebrated on 13.02.2018. 4.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the measures / steps would continue to be taken to find out an amicable solution.
5.Hence, the prayer made in the writ petition has become infructuous on account of the fact that the festival was not conducted on 13.02.2018 and as such, nothing survives for further adjudication in this writ petition and therefore, it is closed. However, the people of Melamattaiyan village shall make every endeavour to live peacefully and find out an amicable solution for conducting the said festival in a peaceful manner. 6.In the result, the writ petition is closed, subject to the above observation.
