PRAYER in W.P.(MD).No.2423 of 2018: Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents Corporation to settle the interest at the rate of 18% for the period from 31.05.2016 to 22.02.2017 for belated payment of Provident Fund of Rs.4,85,686/- to the petitioner within the time frame that may be fixed by this Court.

In all Writ Petitions For Petitioners : Mr.N.Sudhagar Nagaraj For R1 : Mr.J.Gunaseelan Muthiah Additional Government Pleader For R2 : Mr.D.Sivaraman *** COMMON ORDER Mr.J.Gunaseelan Muthiah, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the first respondent and Mr.D.Sivaraman, learned Standing counsel appearing for the second respondent. 2.By consent of both parties, the main Writ Petitions themselves are taken up for final disposal.

3.The petitioners are retired employees of the second respondent/Corporation. There was delay in settling their Provident Fund amounts. Whenever there is any delay in settling the legitimate dues of the employees, it will definitely carry interest. 4.Therefore, in the present cases, the first respondent/Department is directed to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the delay period. The said amount will be paid within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
